Happy Birthday Sue North

May you live all the days of your life. - Jonathan Swift

a blessed day unfolds
each ray of sunlight falls to earth
everyday miracle

For my friend, Sue the affirmation below is from www.journeywithspirit.com:

Thanksgiving
I am so blessed by the bounty of God’s everlasting harvest.
In the earth, I bury the seeds of my pain, growing new possibilities.
In the air, I let the breath of Spirit renew my soul with love and hope.
In the water, I flow with the power of God’s faith to where I am needed.
In the fire, I release the old and arise from the ashes anew.
Earth, air, water and fire: God’s building blocks bless my every moment.

"this is my Self within my heart, smaller than a rice-corn, or a barley-corn, or a mustard-seed, or a canary-seed, or the pulp of a canary-seed — this is my Self within my heart, greater than earth, greater than sky, greater than heaven, greater than these worlds"  from THE INFINITE I From the Chhandogya Upanishad

Could Be

"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." - Edgar Allan Poe

dreams interwoven with reality
who may truly know the mysteries of heart & soul
i welcome the possibilities

I read my friend Jan's blog about having someone else's dream. I remembered I forgot to tell her that one Thursday afternoon I dreamed I was getting tired trying to keep up with an active toddler. When I woke up, I had to chuckle as while I was dreaming Jan was actually watching her active grandbaby.

Then, Monday morning, I woke up remembering a strange dream:

I heard myself saying I quit my job, then wondering why I did that, anxiety starting to rise. Why did I quit? I don't have another job, I need a new job . . .

Oh, well. We all have odd dreams, right?

When I got to work Monday, I noticed a large printer, and other equipment on our manager's desk. I asked if someone's printer died. A co-worker slowly approached me and informed me Christina quit.

When I opened my email, I had a note from Christina. She had been offered a job for which she would be making more money working 32 hours a week than she had made here working 40 hours. But, to get the job she had to start immediately. So I was probably having Christina's dream tainted with my anxiety.

Christina was the same co-worker who went to the Group Soul Retrieval with me.

I know she had been actively looking for a better position; and she has many talents. But, I can always wonder if her presence in the ritual/ceremony helped her be prepared to move on to a new job she is loving so far. May her gifts be appreciated. Congratulations, my friend.

Along The Columbia River

By the time it came to the edge of the Forest, the stream had grown up, so that it was almost a river, and, being grown-up, it did not run and jump and sparkle along as it used to do when it was younger, but moved slowly. For it knew now where it was going, and it said to itself, "There is no hurry. We shall get there some day."

Perspective

Yesterdays poem didn't get posted, so, here it is:

entering the heartspace
seeing the layers of humanity
feeling sameness

I got dressed for an easy, holiday work day. As I looked down at my black socks, black pants, black T-shirt, black sweatshirt. I noticed that none of the blacks were exactly the same. Somehow, this seemed profound or significant. Or maybe just interesting to this inquiring mind.

Picture of a vancouver business. I wonder if they never had to match blacks.

ah, to an interesting yet peaceful day
as the world shifts and changes
what remains the same

Ending An Almost Perfect Day

A successful trip to the second Central Market. I have all the bitter melons I need for the week. I am proudly using my new gauze produce bags.

Shopping over, I decided to sit down on the back end of my car in the parking
lot, watch the full moon and enjoy my cupcake. Oh, my. What a delicious
cupcake! Who would have thought cupcakes good be so good. Bacon, pancake,
with an butter cream (not overly sweet). Later I took a look at the website
for the Yellow Leaf Cupcake Company. They have a hundred different kinds
of cupcakes.

I was reminiscing. What would have made the day more perfect?

Certainly not sleeping in, cause then we wouldn't have gone to the Portage Bay
Cafe.

Finding parking at the Ballard Portage Bay Cafe? No, cause then I wouldn't
haven't gotten to eat at the one in the U-District that I wanted to see.

Well, what if it had been less busy at the restaurant? But, then I wouldn't
have gotten to see how beautifully a fully staffed cafe could run during
a rush.

What if I had gotten my bitter melons at the first Central Market? Then, I wouldn't
be relaxing in this Shoreline parking, munching, and enjoying the moon.

As I was pondering, the woman, a little older like myself, who parked next to be returned to her car.

She looked at me, and then the moon. "Isn't this just the most peaceful
spot?" I agreed. She went on, "I like to listen to classics on the radio."
She opened her door, turned on her radio. There was Roy Orbison singing
"Pretty Woman". We shared a few more comments. She remarked in the past it
would have been cruisin' down by the beach rather than in a parking lot.
She got into her car, but left her door ajar. She didn't drive off until Roy
finished serenading us on this almost perfect June night.

Happy Birthday USA

“Your birthday is a special time to celebrate the gift of 'you' to the world.”

Blessed by light traffic, I have have the opportunity to post a brieft holiday observation.

South Lake Union is "awash" with boats. A co-worker mused about how difficult it could be to  manuver in the crowd of vessels. It looked like a quarter to a third of the lake had boats on it. Most facing the fireworks
barge. . .

Ok, now to work. . .
