North Bend - An Adventure

"What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do - especially in other people's minds.  When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then.  People don't have your past to hold against you.  No yesterdays on the road."  - William Least Heat Moon, Blue Highways

My friend Jan and I took one of our mini-roads off to North Bend to have lunch. Though not far away, neither of us remembered having eaten in a restaurant there before. For us, this one of many perfect criteria for going. I got to go past the new Snoqualmie Casino right into downtown North Bend where we spotted Twede's cafe. We noted the sign indicating it was the home of "Twin Peaks" cherry pie. Though a fan of that show, it was still fun to be a place connected to a TV show, and see lots of movie pictures on their walls, along with original artwork with a mystical leaning. Then along the top of the wall were many, many stuffed Tweedy birds.

Hot roast beef and mashed potatoes were good and plentiful. If I pass through town, I would eat there again.

Then I saw Mt. Si in the background. Though I have probably seen it before I had no idea it was Mt. Si. This was a very satisfying trip so far. While I love the familiar, it is great fun to have new experiences and memories.
