Remembering

“There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in.” - Deepak Chopra

I used to have the following portion of Max Ehrmann's Desiderata in my high school notebook:

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

(You can find the whole poem many places on the internet, tonight I found it at Fleurdelis.com.)

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence." After decades, I am amazed to find I am still drawn to this poem as much as ever. And, it is still a goal I strive for and have yet to attain.

The poignant quote below is  from "What Does Love Mean?" See How 4-8 Year-Old Kids Describe Love by Raymon on the site Articles Copy:

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

softly crying the sky darkens
cool, cold wintry winds surround
inside safe sipping steaming warmth
